Cubic Telecom’s (News
) flagship retail brand MaxRoam, has launched
a SIM card for soccer fans from England and Europe visiting South Africa for the World Cup, which will cut the cost of roaming by up to 50 percent or more.
MaxRoam provides low-cost voice and data services to more than 220 countries, utilizing more than 600 mobile networks.
English fans have been warned and informed by many consumer advocates and media about the potential high cost of texting and calling home from South Africa. The EU regulations which put a cap on the roaming charges are not applicable outside the EU.
The recently launched special World Cup SIM pack by Maxcom comes with up to 100 minutes of calls to any European country for £50, while on some of the networks this would cost the users up to £145.
This MaxRoam world cup offer applies to all the calls to and from the 27 European countries.
In a release, the Director of Product & Innovation at Cubic Telecom, Pat Phelan added, “These rates even apply to our friends in France.”
