Mycom, a global provider of operational support systems (OSS) service assurance software solutions, has announced that its NIMS-PrOptima Performance Management software has contributed to O2’s success as the No.1 provider, as per the latest customer satisfaction survey of UK Mobile and Fixed Broadband services conducted by J.D Power and Associates.
O2, a leading telecom operator in UK, has been using the OSS solution from Mycom for the past five years. NIMS-PrOptima performs complete end-to-end performance management of the network. The solution is deployed across O2’s 2G, 3G, radio, packet core and soft switch networks, officials said.
“Since the initial delivery of NIMS-PrOptima, O2 has been able to collect, view and evaluate performance and configuration data in near real time so that they are able to optimize the performance of the network and guarantee best levels of service to their subscribers, in a background of the ever increasing roll out of new services,” said Mounir Ladki, general manager, product business unit, Mycom, in a statement.
“O2 has been able to benefit from increased operational efficiencies and reduce costs while rapidly introducing new innovative services,” Ladki added. “We look forward to our continued relationship with O2 in the coming years.”
Nigel Purdy, head of Technology Engineering at O2 in the UK commented that NIMS-PrOptima gives visibility of 2G and 3G performance covering both voice and data. Mycom’s solution has been highly scalable and provided them with simple yet intelligent reporting and analysis capabilities.
NIMS-PrOptima also helped O2 to monitor and manage the significant growth the company is experiencing in 3G data traffic which has come from a number of propositions including Apple’s i-Phone, Purdy added.
The software features interfaces that ensure seamless synchronization with Nokia and Ericsson (News - Alert) 2G & 3G equipment, facilitating and empowering O2 engineers to achieve very high standards in the quality, performance and reliability of their network.
Back in May Mycom announced the launch of Converged NIMS-PrOptima, the latest version the NIMS-PrOptima. With this launch, Mycom has converted its flagship OSS Service Assurance software platform to a totally unified end-to-end NGOSS Service Assurance solution that addresses the requirements of convergent mobile-fixed operators as well as IP access and Internet service providers, officials said.
