UK Consumers Prefer Vodafone and Three Mobile Portals

New research from Strategy Analytics revealed that when it comes to mobile usability and design, consumers in the United Kingdom prefer mobile operator portals from Vodafone and Australia’s Three over those from O2, Orange, T-Mobile, and non-operator, MSN.

The report, entitled, “UK Mobile Portals: Vodafone and Three Maintain Lead,” shows that consumers favor the design of the Vodafone (News - Alert) Live! portal, which was viewed to be more innovative and up-to-date modern than its competitors.

Strategy Analytics’ (News - Alert) findings are based on in-depth one-on-one research sessions that were held with participants in London, England.

According to Chris Schreiner, senior user experience analyst at Strategy Analytics, consumers were however not satisfied with the number of icons on the portal homepage.

“Our research shows that consumers require a simple but informative purchasing and downloading experience,” explained Kevin Nolan, vice president of the Strategy Analytics User Experience Practice.

“Also, when searching for mobile content most operator portals have room for improvement,” added Nolan.
