Cinterion Wireless (News - Alert) Modules, a provider of cellular M2M communication modules, has showcased a new eCall solution in Madrid, Spain that is compatible with the future standards of the European eSafety initiative. The company made the presentation in collaboration with DENSO International Europe, the European headquarters of DENSO Corporation, a provider of automotive solutions.
Integrating its M2M engineering expertise and localized worldwide customer support with a portfolio of GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS and HSPA products, Clinterion provides modules which enable machines, equipment and vehicles to communicate over wireless networks helping enterprises in saving their costs and enjoying increased productivity and efficiency. Its products have been approved by the FTA, and are leveraged in a number of industries, including remote maintenance and control, metering, payment systems, routers and gateways, security systems, healthcare, automotive and eToll, tracking & tracing, and environmental monitoring.
DENSO Corporation is a Kariya, Aichi prefecture, Japan based provider of advanced technology, systems and components, which are relied upon a number of automotive companies worldwide. Around 120,000 people work for the company in 34 countries and regions, out of which nearly 15,000 people work for it in 14 countries of Europe.
The automotive-grade modules of Cinterion are optimized for size and performance, and are designed leveraging the Land Grid Array or ‘LGA’ surface mount technology with flexible soldering, which provides efficient and fully automated manufacturing to the company. The components are scalable and offer a broad range of specialized features coupled with an ultra compact footprint to the users. Additionally, the Cinterion LGA modules feature backward and forward compatibility for full design flexibility, and have been fully approved for cost-efficient certification and a shorter time to market.
According to Marcel Visser, Global Vice President, Automotive & Business Development at Cinterion Wireless Modules, working with the ITS veterans at DENSO has been extremely rewarding because they have the experience to accurately assess module and solution needs and the knowledge to appreciate the value of Cinterion’s cutting edge Land Grid Array or ‘LGA’ modules. Visser continued that teams of both the companies have together designed a highly reliable and cost-efficient solution for high-volume automated manufacturing which meets the rugged automotive-grade requirements.
In April 2010, Cinterion Wireless Modules entered a strategic partnership with Assembly Contracts Limited or ACL, a designer and manufacturer of electronic products and sub-assemblies, to jointly design and integrate wireless components based on Cinterion’s cellular modules.
