Oracle (News - Alert) Communications  (NASDAQ : ORCL), recently announced that premier Russian telecom provider VimpelCom Services has implemented Oracle Communications Converged Application Server for delivering an enhanced revenue generation services.

In its first deployment phase, VimpelCom has installed Black & White List Phone (News - Alert) Call Manager Service application that enables users to allow or block calls incoming from specific phone numbers. The open-ended functionality of the Oracle’s communications platform will permit VimpelCom to modify, adapt, and leverage its services, by either inviting third party vendors or by launching new services of their own.

Andrey Klimov, heading the service network development of VimpelCom indicated that they needed a solution that would enable them to accelerate their innovative and diverse communication services.  Klimov went on to add that with the help of the Oracle Communications Converged Application Server, they can either add new elements to their existing communication services, or launch new products. He also added that their Black & White phone call manager application empowers them to decide the best interest of our customers.

By deploying Oracle’s open-source communication software, VimpelCom can unify its current and new services onto a single and centralized application, and re-use them across multiple vendors and networks for mobile, web, next generation of 4G LTE (News - Alert), fixed, or broadband.

The solution allows the Russian communications provider to reduce its ownership costs by rendering a superior service performance environment, without putting a limit on the number of phone subscribers or services.

Oracle Communications Converged Application Server, with its redundant geographical structure, eliminates the peril of service breakage due to unforeseen circumstances like equipment failure or overload, and natural disasters.
