Critical Path, Inc., a provider of messaging software and services, has announced that Telefónica O2 Czech Republic has launched its “Phone Back-Up” system to protect the contact and calendar data for its O2 Záloha subscribers.

 

Company officials said that Phone Back-Up, which is part of the Memova suite of applications and services, enables operators to provide branded services that protect subscriber data by securing mobile contacts and content on the service provider’s network.

 

“People invest many hours manually entering contact information and personal content into their mobile phones. If their handset is lost or damaged, the information is often irretrievable,” said Bohdan Tetiva, director for product marketing and public loyalty programs for Telefónica O2, in a statement.

 

Tetiva said that with Critical Path’s (News - Alert) Phone Back-Up solution, the company is the only Czech operator to offer a service to back-up contacts and calendar notes remotely on mobile phones.

 

“This will be a key service to drive loyalty and increase customer satisfaction among our subscribers,” Tetiva said.

 

Telefónica O2 Czech Republic is a major integrated operator in the Czech Republic now operating more than seven million lines, both fixed and mobile.

 

“We are pleased to work together with Telefónica O2 Czech Republic and our local partner Ness LOGOS to deliver the Phone Back-Up solution to O2 Záloha customers,” said David Longley, vice president, North EMEA and North America, Critical Path.

 

Longley said that he believes that operators have a great opportunity to provide assurance services such as this solution from the Memova suite to protect consumer data and add a valuable service to generate revenue and increase loyalty.
