Affiliated Computer Services, Inc., has introduced ACS (News - Alert) Managed Mobility Services, a centralized solution for efficiently managing all aspects of smartphones, including procurement, security, expense and device and application management.
“Multinational companies operating in Europe lack a central source for pan-European coverage,” said Chris Tranquill, managing director, ACS Communication and Consumer Goods group.
Tranquill said that CIOs are increasingly asked to support mobile workers regardless of their device, network, location, access or application.
He said that ACS Managed Mobility Services removes these headaches with a one-stop solution. It also integrates with existing technology to consolidate multiple devices into a single mobile device, supported through one management portal, added Tranquill.
Tranquill also notes that with no unified plan or carrier in 23 European countries, managing these devices in the IT department has evolved into a complex undertaking, sometimes requiring the coordination of numerous suppliers, carriers and internal departments.
There are also issues concerning setup, data security, accelerated costs associated with a corporate purchase and lack of self-service or helpdesk resources for the increasing volume of mobile workers.
ACS delivers Managed Mobility Solutions to users worldwide through relationships with virtually every carrier, device manufacturer and distribution company to allow a complete selection of plans and devices.
In addition, ACS has developed enhanced strategic and marketing alliances with nearly all carriers that enable ACS to be a full solution provider or systems integrator for the complete range of Managed Mobility Services.
These relationships provide remote users with a single cost-effective device that integrates seamlessly into existing IT infrastructures.
ACS, a global FORTUNE 500 company with approximately 74,000 people supporting client operations reaching more than 100 countries, provides business process and information technology solutions to world-class commercial and government clients.
In May, Affiliated Computer Services (News - Alert), Inc. and Novell, Inc. announced a strategic partnership to expand their core technical capabilities and suite of services.
As part of the partnership, Novell will outsource part of its internal IT operations to ACS, which will also provide SAP (News - Alert) consulting and applications development and maintenance system integration services as part of a $135 million, five-year contract.
ACS will also partner with Novell (News - Alert) to enhance its global data center operations and will purchase at least $30 million in Novell products during the first three years of the partnership.
