Bridgewater Systems has announced that it is teaming up with HP to provide mobile operators around the world with a network infrastructure that allows interconnectivity between most mobile phones and networks across the globe while accommodating data traffic growth and delivering personalized services to subscribing members.

Officials at the company said that HP will globally market the combined offering as a “Global Reseller.” It consists of Bridgewater Service Controller and Bridgewater Policy Controller products with the HP OpenCall personalized communications solutions.

The offerings will also include providing Tier 1 mobile service operators with professional and support services to guarantee delivery of a network-agnostic, end to end platform that handles and coordinates call, media, and Internet usage metrics, and network resources, besides delivering personalized services, said company sources.

Bridgewater claims that business growth will accelerate by targeting customer specific preferences for customized and dynamic mobile advertising with the help of live information regarding subscriber's location, context, or language preference.

The combined solution is also offering customers the option to avail of the in vogue social networking connectivity. From a market relevant trend perspective, this is a smart move because a high percentage of people are turning to social networks to communicate, recommend and seek advice, TMCnet reported.

The companies say the solution will reduce network costs by collating all subscriber data and applying network, application, and subscriber policies across any type of network to intelligently control and prioritize spectrum allocation, and hence also guarantee fair usage across the networks.

The joint offering guarantees that customers receive ‘No Bill Shock,’ which is the European Union’s (EU’s) stern directive, reported TMCnet, to all telecommunications service providers in the EU to keep their mobile users informed live on their usage and current billing amount in accordance with the EU’s regulations on international roaming call charges within the 27 EU countries to prevent “bill shock.”

The EU’s ruling originated from complaints, according to the TMCnet report, by the substantial roaming EU business community and holiday makers who received huge bills charged at international roaming rates within the EU boundaries, and which is totally against EU’s founding mantras, promises and visions of one community, one currency, one market, and fairness to all EU citizens in all manner of activities and transactions.
