Indiegogo Announces New International Features for Canada, France, Germany and the UK

The massive global crowdfunding platform, Indiegogo is expanding its offerings across the globe, with new features added to its service that are focused on multiple key global markets. The countries affected are Canada, France, Germany and the UK.

The new features include added languages, a more localized search experience, and the inclusion of local currencies.

With a versatile platform that allows anyone, from any location and at any time to launch a crowdfunding campaign--and for whatever reason--Indiegogo now covers each and every of the 196 countries on the globe, with most of its features available to all customers.

“Indiegogo puts our customers first, which is why broadening our international offerings is a priority, enabling us to bring our unique experience and open and inclusive business model to more people than ever before,” said Indiegogo co-founder Danae Ringelmann.

With the new currency updates, transactions are no longer confined to the US Dollar, but are now available in Euros, Pounds Sterling and Canadian Dollars.

French and German languages will be available by December 2013, and localized versions of Indiegogo’s homepage and search and discovery options will be available for Britain, France, Germany and Canada by early 2013.

“We remain committed to localizing our international platform to empower campaign owners for success and give funders a satisfying discovery experience. We’ve laid a great foundation to continue global growth in the months ahead,” Ringelmann added.

Indiegogo’s most recent endeavor was a partnership with Google (News - Alert) and Stiftung Entrepreneurship, which was used to create “Gründer-Garage,” an online competition for German-speaking entrepreneurs to promote innovation and financing via an Internet outlet.

The competition proved successful, so German interest in Indiegogo’s services will be high when German is officially implemented as a language option, as well as when the localized homepage is made available this spring.

Gründer-Garage was the first of Indiegogo’s internationally-focused projects, which birthed de.indiegogo.com, the company’s localized-versions initiative. Now that idea has taken off running, and is expanding past Germany in various significant features that have been, and will be developed in 2012, and through the rest of 2013.
