Hughes (News - Alert) Europe has announced that HN System platform has been picked up by Emtele, a specialist value-added reseller in global machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions for remote monitoring. According to the company agreement, Hughes will provide high availability satellite connectivity services to Emtele.
The Hughes HN and HX systems are the state of the art and widely installed satellite systems around the world with more than 2.8 million satellite terminals sold in more than 100 countries. The complete family of Hughes broadband solutions offers the ability to provide broadband IP services virtually anywhere, with the help of geostationary satellite coverage from numerous operators all over the world.
According to the agreement, Emtele's broadband FieldCom network service will make use of the highly dependable Hughes HN System platform and related satellite services. Using these services from Hughes, Emtele will provide high availability connectivity to all electric distribution substations, which did not have access to reliable terrestrial networks until now.
“A key requirement in securing the contract was for our satellite solution to match the high level of resilience, availability and quality-of-service of the rest of the monitoring network," said Chris O'Dell (News - Alert), vice president of sales and marketing, Hughes Europe. "Hughes technology is extremely resilient, and has been proven in cold environments such as Siberia and Alaska to cope with the ice and low temperatures of the Nordic region. We look forward to expanding our cooperation with Emtele”
Recently, the company announced that Hanover-based Amann Technology GmbH selected the company’s specific approach to communications solutions.
