In a recent survey conducted by market watcher Multimedia Research Group (News - Alert) (MRG) for IPTV market leaders report, video-on-demand (VoD) server software supplier Broadpeak has topped the European VoD server software rankings. According to MRG’s report, which covers the autumn/winter 2011 time period, this is second successive number-one ranking for Broadpeak in Europe. For this report, the market research firm surveyed a number of active IPTV (News - Alert) subscribers who use a company’s services or are supported by a company’s products. It is then verified by data from both IPTV operators and their suppliers, said MRG.
In a statement, Broadpeak president and CEO Jacques Le Mancq said, “With consumer demand for high-quality video over the Internet rising rapidly, Broadpeak is poised to build on the company’s continued success and develop a global profile in delivering market-leading VoD technologies to increasing numbers of service providers around the world.” He added, “We are delighted to be recognized by MRG as the leading VoD server software vendor in Europe and leverage this ranking for even greater market share.”
In another statement, MRG president Gary Schultz commented, “Because of the growing European demand for premium video in both the IPTV and the mobile/OTT markets, Broadpeak is in an excellent position to grow in both these markets with its VoD software.”
According to MRG, the report is generated twice a year to track and evaluate the performance of 120 leading IPTV vendors in six key sectors of the IPTV market: video-on-demand server software, IPTV access systems, video headend (encoder) systems (VHEs), set-top boxes (STBs), middleware (MW), and content protection/digital rights management (CP/DRM).
Broadpeak makes BkS family of high-performance VoD servers that ingests video assets and streams them based on subscriber requests. Other value added applications supported by the BkS servers including Network Personal Video Recording (NPVR) and Network Time Shifting (NTS (News - Alert)) services.
