TomTom (News - Alert) Business Solutions, a provider of fleet management solutions and renowned Telematics Service Provider (TSP) for commercial fleets in Europe, recently implemented its WORKsmart fleet management solution for Zenith Hygiene Group, a provider of health and cleaning products.

Zenith reportedly installed TomTom's tracking, navigation and EcoPlus devices across its fleet of 56 company cars and 63 trucks. With an improved vehicle routing system under disposal, the company can now deploy its mobile workforce more effectively to serve the customers. This, according to Zenith, resulted in an increase in its (OTIF) delivery performance and an upsurge in new business.

In addition, the fuel costs are expected to be reduced by GBP 90,000 a year as a result of this implementation, TomTom claimed in a press release.

Moreover, the monitoring of driver performance has helped increase the driving efficiency by curbing the incidence of speeding, idling, harsh braking and other efficiency failings.

“We always strive to maximize business efficiencies. Those delivered by TomTom's system have been a revelation. Average vehicle mileage per gallon of fuel has soared from 26 to 43 in just four months. Fuel usage reduced by up to 5000 litres per month, resulting in significant savings in distribution costs. The carbon footprint has declined by 33lbs per day to 24lbs per day, a significant boost to our green credentials,” Zenith's Operations Director Michael Rayner noted in a statement.

“Zenith's return on investment illustrates the considerable benefits that advanced fleet management technology can deliver,” TomTom Business Solutions' Director, UK & Ireland Giles Margerison commented in a statement.

Recenltly TomTom has increased its stake in its Thailand joint venture from 80 percent to 100 percent. This buy-out gives TomTom full control of its map operations in this promising emerging market. The joint venture will be renamed TomTom (Thailand) Co. Ltd, the company informed in an earlier press release.
