Italy's Aria Selects Alvarion for Mobile WiMAX Network

Alvarion Ltd., a provider of WiMAX (News - Alert) and wireless broadband solutions, and Aria, a telecom operator in Italy with a national WiMAX license, reportedly have forged an agreement to deploy Mobile WiMAX network throughout Italy.
Under their deal, Aria will build a network at the 3.5 GHz frequency to offer broadband services to all 21 Italian regions using Alvarion’s 4Motion Mobile WiMAX solution incorporating the WiMAX Forum (News - Alert) Certified BreezeMAX platform.
Alvarion officials claimed that the company’s 4Motion is an advanced and field-proven solution for delivering innovative WiMAX services for a range of broadband applications in rural, suburban and urban environments.
“At Aria, we are committed to empowering businesses and consumers to realize the impact of high bandwidth, quality data and voice services, and we have full confidence in Alvarion’s (News - Alert) innovative WiMAX platform and services to ensure we deliver on this promise,” said Davidi Gilo, CEO of Aria.
Gilo said that Alvarion’s 4Motion solution will enable the company to bring highly advanced broadband services throughout the country.

Friedman said that this contract confirms Alvarion’s Mobile WiMAX solution as the most advanced solution in the market, and the company’s leading position as a long-term partner for WiMAX.
“Our cutting edge technology, proven business model and tailored solutions will provide the ultimate broadband services to the consumers and businesses in Italy,” said Friedman.

Recently Alvarion had announced that it was selected by U.S. broadband wireless operator, Open Range Communications Inc., for the nation’s largest Rural Utilities Service (RUS) funded deployment spanning 17 states, 546 rural communities, and reaching up to 6 million people.
With this new broadband wireless network, Open Range will begin offering state-of-the-art 4G services to un-served and underserved customers across rural America in the fourth quarter of this year.
