Alcatel-Lucent, a company specializing in fixed, mobile and converged broadband networking, IP technologies, applications and services, has appointed Luc Defieuw as the CEO at Alcatel-Lucent (News - Alert) Bell and vice president of its business in the Benelux, effective April 1, 2010.
Luc Defieuw is currently VP for procurement and project sourcing at Alcatel-Lucent headquarters in Paris, and brings more than 20 years of experience in telecommunications.
As per the new move by the company, Defieuw will be based in Antwerp, and will report to Adolfo Hernandez, president of Alcatel-Lucent’s business in EMEA.
Defieuw replaces Paul Depuydt, who after 19 years in the company has decided to pursue new opportunities outside of the company.
In his new position, Luc Defieuw will assume overall responsibility for managing the day-to-day business activities of Alcatel-Lucent in Benelux.
“With his vast experience in the telecommunications industry, his affinity with the local market as well as his familiarity with the teams in Belgium, Luc is ideally positioned to take up the role of CEO of Alcatel-Lucent Bell and head for the Benelux operations,” said Adolfo Hernandez. “I also would like to take the opportunity to thank Paul Depuydt for the excellent work he has done and wish him all the best in his future undertakings," Hernandez added.
Defieuw has already functioned as the Country Senior Officer, from December 2006 till December 2007 where, he was leading the sales activities in Northern Europe, next to CEO Paul Depuydt. Also, he has held several other positions within the company as CEO of the U.K. and Ireland, General Manager Northern Europe of the Optics Division, Key Account Manager of the Belgacom (News - Alert) Group, Director external communications.
Defieuw is said to have started his career in 1986 with Alcatel in Antwerp as project manager.
