Acting on the growing customer’s demand for premium colocation and interconnection services in Paris, France, Equinix has unveiled its third International Business Exchange (IBX) data center in the city.
By building the PA3 IBX data center, the global data center services provider has doubled its capacity at the Saint-Denis campus, also home to its PA2 IBX data center.
PA3 is now Equinix’s (News - Alert) largest IBX data center in Paris and part of its $2.0 billion investment to grow global operations between 2007 and 2010. The new center is located 15 minutes north of Paris and offers redundant fiber links that directly connect the PA3 IBX data center with the existing PA2 IBX data center located at the Saint-Denis site.
The third in a series of recently announced IBX data center openings, PA3 joins the GV2 IBX data center in Geneva, Switzerland, and the LD5 IBX data center in London, England. Equinix intends to open a fourth IBX data center in Zurich, Switzerland, in Q2 2010.
This new facility offers a complete range of colocation, interconnection and support services for 49 customers that have deployed infrastructure in PA3. The center also enables customers to directly connect to strategic partners and optimize the delivery of their content as well as critical applications.
Michel Brignano, French general manager, Equinix noted that the company’s ongoing strategy of disciplined expansion, which has strengthened its position in the data center market.
“As demand for our services in this important metro remains strong, the PA3 IBX data center provides important growth capacity and additional space for further expansions, placing us in an excellent position to respond quickly to the needs of the market and support our customers as they expand.”
