Bouygues Selects Smith Micro Mobile Connection Management Software

Smith Micro Software (News - Alert), Inc., an Aliso Viejo, Cali.-based provider of mobility solutions and services for the mobile broadband market, reportedly announced that it will be delivering its QuickLink Mobile connection management software to Bouygues Telecom, a provider of telecom products and services in France.


 
Under the terms of the agreement, Smith Micro’s QuickLink connection manager software will be powering Bouygues Telecom’s complete line of modem devices that are specially designed for PCs and Netbooks.
 
William W. Smith, Jr., president and CEO at Smith Micro Software, said in a release that Bouygues Telecom is Smith Micro’s first wireless customer in France and the selection of Smith’s QuickLink connection manager validates the benefits the company’s technology delivers to the global marketplace.
 
“We play a pivotal role in providing seamless connectivity management for broadband network access across multiple technologies and a wide range of mobile devices,” Smith said. “Our technology can help Bouygues Telecom manage its Wi-Fi and 3G network connections - a key factor in their selection of a software solution.”
 
QuickLink Mobile is a customizable, cross-platform, multi-interface connection management software that facilitates customers with a superior, high-speed, media-rich experience away from the home or office. Customers can customize the UI to extend their corporate brand with QuickLink. Additionally, it offers a robust skinning engine, flexible localization options, and detailed control of application features and default settings, thereby enabling customization of the user experience for any market, Smith Micro officials said.
 
The agreement between both the companies will now enable Smith Micro Software to customize its QuickLink Mobile technology for mobile connection management to support 3G GSM and Wi-Fi networks. This customization will in-turn provides ease of access for Bouygues subscribers who are utilizing a variety of mobile devices and data cards.
 
In addition, QuickLink’s intuitive, patented technology allows it to seamlessly navigate through various wireless networks and seamlessly select a network based on the user’s preference, said officials with Smith Micro.
 
The combined solution would be marketed under Bouygues Telecom’s brand. Moreover, the solution relies on Smith Micro Software’s connection management technology, thereby ensuring - greater customer satisfaction, reduced customer support costs, and easy software installation and setup. This is done automatically by configuring the mobile device to access different types of wireless networks.
 
Smith Micro has developed two versions of its connection manager. One version will support Bouygues Telecom’s consumer customers, while another application is provided with more advanced security features, in order to meet the demands of enterprise customers, said officials.
 
According to company officials, the agreement between both the companies has not only expanded Smith Micro’s global foot print, but has also facilitated both consumer and enterprise mobile connectivity customers with an innovative multimode connection management solution.
 
Smith Micro primarily develops mobility solutions that enable seamless broadband connectivity and next generation media and mobile convergence products over wireless networks.
