Orange Business Services
has announced that modern maritime vessels are more than just big delivery tools that transport goods across seas and that the advent of modern broadband satellite communication has transformed these vessels into remote corporate locations whose owners increasingly want them to have the same access to e-mail, supply chain management, enterprise resource planning applications and internal documentation as land-based offices.
Orange has deployed and maintains high-speed, complex satellite networks to operate services designed specifically for the converged IP environment, supporting service level agreements for all five classes of service, including guarantees for real-time voice and video, to any location served by satellite including remote locations and ships moving across oceans.
Now, the company has enhanced its satellite solution portfolio by launching a new, innovative Maritime Satellite Service, upgrading technology and providing customers access to a next-generation satellite network management system. The new service integrates Orange’s satellite solution with its fully managed IP VPN solution, Business VPN and is said to have the capability to change the way maritime communications are carried out.
The Maritime Satellite Service from Orange Business Services (News
) enables shipping and transport companies to access all applications critical to vessel operations as well as databases hosted at headquarters. The service also offers Internet browsing, e-mail, video and telephone services to help companies enhance the working environments of its staff and crewmembers.
Orange has also sought the services of C2SAT for maritime VSAT antenna systems that will provide reliable, high quality satellite communication even in challenging weather conditions in order to support this service. C2SAT’ unique 4-axis VSAT solution allows the RF equipment to be moved freely and maintain an optimal position toward the satellite without large and sudden movements which increases performance and availability.
In addition, the company has improved its satellite solution by upgrading to DVB-S2 technology provided by iDirect’s (News
) new Evolution platform and has developed a new next-generation satellite network management system for clients who need more direct performance monitoring of their satellite links.
