And continuing this reporter’s fixation with all things iPhone (News - Alert) and iPod Touch, NTRglobal has introduced NTRconnect Remote Access for the iPhone and iPod touch.

Users can access their Web-enabled office and home computers – “including all the applications and files on them,” company officials say – “and work as if they were sitting in front of them.”
The app is available on the iTunes App Store for $1.99 and at the NTRconnect site. With every download, NTRglobal will donate $1 to TreeLink, an organization devoted to raising awareness for healthy urban and community forests. “The accumulated donations from NTRglobal will help create TreeBanks, which are online accounts that fund local urban reforestation organizations,” according to company officials.

“Now, Apple (News - Alert) iPhone and iPod touch users around the world can remotely access and control their home or work computers by logging in and branching out with NTRconnect Remote Access,” says Luis Font, CEO of NTRglobal. “And they are also helping urban reforestation groups grow and branch out in their own backyards.”

“We’re delighted to work together to introduce a new form of online philanthropy that will establish and grow TreeBanks for new locations in the Americas, Europe and Asia,” says Pepper Provenzano, executive director and founder of Treelink.

The app comes in user interface in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish, as well a multi-platform access to Windows, Mac and Linux machines, secure 256-bit encryption and keycard security, keyboard, mouse and screen blocking capabilities, remote startup of a computer (Wake-on-LAN) and file transfer.
Last spring TMC‘s Shireen Dee reported that NTRglobal raised €22 million ($34 million) in investments for the expansion of its SaaS (News - Alert) technology. Apart from its existing investors DEBAEQUE and ELAIA Partners, new investors Kennet Partners and Atlas Venture also participated in the financing round.

“We are very excited about the prospects of NTRglobal,” said Maximilian Bleyleben, managing director of Kennet Partners at the time. “NTRglobal has established an exceptional market position, and has assembled one of the strongest management teams we have seen.”
