IBM's (News - Alert) Energy & Utilities Industry Solution Center in La Gaude, France has showcased eMeter’s EnergyIP meter data management software or MDMS platform. The eMeter EnergyIP turnkey smart grid appliance has been installed and integrated with IBM's Solution Architecture for Energy & Utilities or SAFE Framework. The appliance runs on IBM Power7 with the SAPIS-U ECC 6.0 Enhancement Pack 5 system. A global showcase for an end-to-end, meter to billing, smart grid solution is therefore offered by IBM Forum. An announcement in this regard has been made by the global smart grid software platform provider, eMeter.
Apart from discovering the latest innovations from IBM, industry-oriented experience can be explored at IBM Forum La Gaude. A deeper understanding of IBM's Smarter Planet vision can be also gained at this center.
In a release, Lisa Caswell who is the World Wide Vice President of Alliances at eMeter said, "The installation of eMeter EnergyIP, along with other leading Smart Grid technologies at IBM's Energy & Utilities Solution Center, serves as a blueprint for the energy and utilities industry. The live solution with EnergyIP builds on true successes in the field such as CenterPoint Energy and will remain at the forefront of Smart Grid innovation and implementation."
The eMeter SAFE Certified Smart Grid Appliance is a fully integrated solution built on the IBM Power7 server. The Appliance has been showcased at IBM Forum La Gaude for its scalability and reliability. Apart from offering a complete integration from customer information systems and MDM, the appliance also includes advanced meter infrastructure or AMI technology.
The eMeter Universal AMI adapter has been instrumental in integrating eMeter EnergyIP and Iskraemeco and Sagemcom AMI device providers at the Industry Solution Center. Frequent meter reads and on demand reads are supported by this adapter. Real time on demand reads at the Solution Center is enabled by integrating SAP (News - Alert) EHP5/AMI 2.0 and eMeter EnergyIP. Real time provisioning and billing processes at the Solution Center are also enabled. These integrations are a viable solution for any number of AMI's due to the added benefits of eMeter's highly scalable software.
