Rugged 10.4" Railway Panel PC Reliably Operates in Severe Conditions

BLUE BELL, Pa., May 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MEN Micro Inc., a world-renowned provider of embedded computing and I/O solutions for mission-critical industrial, mobile and harsh environment applications, now offers a robust, flexible panel PC that is exceptionally reliable and easy to use in harsh railway human machine interface (HMI) applications.  The new DC15 features a large 10.4" LCD display and comes with either 32 illuminated front keys or a projective, capacitive touchscreen.

Conforming to UIC 612, a standard for driver machine interfaces in railway applications, the compact panel PC has an IP65-rated housing that protects the electronics across the extended temperature range of -40 degrees C to +70 degrees C (and up to +85 degrees C for 10 minutes in accordance with Tx).  The display is also certified to EN 50155.

For demanding HMI railway applications, the DC15 reliably monitors and displays train functions to optimize speed as well as to manage a full fleet of vehicles.

Optical bonding can increase weather resistance and the display's high illumination ensures exceptional readability, even in direct sunlight.  A buzzer, LEDs and light sensors from the panel alert the driver to potentially hazardous situations, contributing to safer train operation.

The compact housing (310 mm x 214 mm x 60 mm) accommodates the impact-resistant XGA TFT LCD display, which features LED backlighting, a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and anti-glare safety glass.

The maintenance-free, fanless DC15 reliably operates in extreme conditions.  Internal electronics are IP65-compliant, EN 50155 certified and prepared for coating against dust and humidity. In addition, the integrated ultra wide range power supply provides a voltage range of 14.4 VDC to 154 VDC, with an interruption class of S2.

As standard, the DC15 is controlled by a powerful, energy-efficient AMD Embedded G-Series processor and incorporates a multitude of standard communication I/O including two Ethernet, a USB, an audio, a GPIO and a serial interface – all available via rugged M12 connectors on the rear panel.

For wireless communication, such as GSM, UMTS, LTE and GPS, a PCI Express Mini Card slot (or alternatively M.2) and µSIM slots are also included on the back.

Flexible connection to the rail network is easily accomplished via universal methods such as a CAN or MVB (Multifunction Vehicle Bus) interface.  The display supports Windows and Linux, and can be either panel or top mounted, meeting VESA 100 requirements.

Space-saving, rugged and tailored to the market needs, the DC15 display computer is the perfect device for demanding railway applications in harsh environments.
