Dr. Raj B Apte Joins Thinfilm's Technical Advisory Council


Thin Film Electronics ASA ("Thinfilm") (OSE:THIN.OL; OTCQX:TFECY), a leader in the development and commercialization of printed electronics and smart systems, today announced that Dr. Raj B Apte has joined Thinfilm's Technical Advisory Council. In this role, Dr. Apte will collaborate with other council members and Thinfilm's executive team to leverage the latest technological advances in printed electronics and further strengthen Thinfilm's position as an innovator and market leader.

Dr. Apte is presently a Rapid Evaluator for Google (News - Alert)[x], where he invents and evaluates potential high­payoff projects (aka Moonshots) for significant investments by Google[x]. Prior to his current role, Dr. Apte spent two decades at PARC, a Xerox company, as a principal scientist and area manager. While at PARC, he oversaw much of the group's poly-silicon research initiatives and managed projects focused on imaging technology, large area array testing, oxide (IGZO) semiconductors, novel back-plane design, and laser recrystallization. Dr. Apte is widely published and has43 issued patents to his credit. He holds PhD and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.



"Raj has deep expertise in the development of low-temperature poly-silicon processes, which relates directly to Thinfilm's printed NFC OpenSense™ and sensor label products," said Christer Karlsson, Thinfilm's chief technology officer. "As we continue to enhance Thinfilm's poly-silicon technology and scale the related manufacturing processes, Raj's years of experience in this arena will be of tremendous benefit. In addition to Dr. Apte, other members of Thinfilm's Technology Advisory Council include Dr. Ana Claudia Arias, Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (News - Alert) at the University of California, Berkeley, and Dr. Donald Lupo, Professor of Electronic Materials in the Department of Electronics at Tampere University of Technology.
