Zinio's Android In-Flight Application for digital magazines is now available via the Thales App Portal - the most robust application development portal available to airlines. Zinio will leverage its catalog of leading international titles, offering Thales's customers an unrivalled choice of content ranging from the world's biggest brands to niche specialist titles.  Interests and topics covered include news, politics, technology, art, style, travel and more.

"Zinio is excited to make available our popular digital publications through Thales's leading IFE solutions," said Joan Solà, Zinio EVP Chief Global Markets.  "Air travel and magazines have a long-standing relationship.  Zinio's service will serve to evolve the experience, while also eliminating the logistical costs of supporting print."

Passengers will experience Zinio's innovative digital magazine readingexperience, including an interactive table of contents, page layout view, zoom and pan, and a simple text view for easier reading of long-form articles.

"Our portfolio of open architecture IFE systems are strengthened when companies such as Zinio enable enhanced content distribution," said Dominique Giannoni, CEO, Thales InFlyt Experience.

Thales demonstrated Zinio's In-Flight Application at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg this month.

Zinio is also developing an HMTL5 In-Flight Application for Thales's wireless entertainment capabilities, expanding the Zinio digital magazine experience to passenger-owned devices such as laptops, smartphones and tablets. This is expected to go live in the second quarter of 2015.
