Zayo Group Extends 100G Wavelength Capability to Its Metro Network in Europe

International bandwidth infrastructure services provider Zayo Group (News - Alert) Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:ZAYO) today announced an extension of its 100G wavelength network, rolling out 100G lineside capability across its metro network in London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Paris.

The project, completed at the end of the first quarter of 2015, is a move towards a fully integrated, seamless long haul platform. The enhancement involves the consolidation of a large number of legacy point-to-point wavelength connections into single coherent 100G lineside capacity, increasing spectral efficiencies and reducing physical footprint and power requirements. The project will enable Zayo to deliver seamless, low-latency service across its metro, national and European footprint.

"This extension of our London metro network will enable us to be more efficint and provide a significantly reduced port cost for our customers," said Leeland Pavey, chief operations officer for Zayo Europe. "Extending our 100G capability so we can offer this capacity to our customers is important for Zayo."

The project on Zayo's London metro was completed at the end of 2014, and other European metro areas, including Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Paris, were completed during the first quarter of 2015.
