Now make international phone calls from Hangouts in India [New Vision (Uganda)]

(New Vision (Uganda) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Google has just brought the recently launched service of making free international calls though Hangouts to India Google had recently introduced the service of making free international calls through Hangouts globally. It was launched in US and Canada for the first phase and the only catch was that the free calling could be done only for a minute. Well, the service has touched down in India as well and will allow you to make calls through Hangouts over the internet.

The search engine giant in a blog post stated, "The Hangouts app on your phone will help you stay connected with your family and friends around the world in more ways than ever. Now you can make voice calls to phone numbers outside of India on Android, iOS, and the Web from Hangouts in Gmail." While people can make free calls to international numbers in US and Canada for free, the rates for other countries are on the lower side of things.

The first minute of calls to 24 countries from India will be free and you'll be charged henceforth. The countries are: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Poland, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and United States. You'll get a first minute free on the call screen to tell you that what part is free. And when it doesn't come, you pay at really low charges for calling international numbers.

You need to have the Hangouts Dialer app as well to make use of the service. As far as the other operating systems are concerned, you just need to open the app and it will be available. The service is a pretty functional one but the same may not find a lot of takers due to the 1-minute policy. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) seems like the future of instant messaging. Google doesn't want to be left behand in this regard and wants to equip itself against the likes of Viber, Tango and soon-to-be launched Whatsapp's calling feature.
