Italy : TELECOM ITALIA lodges appeals before the Italian Council [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Telecom Italia declared that it has lodged an appeal before the Italian Council of State against a EUR 104 million fine that the operator has been ordered to pay by the Regional Administrative Court of Lazio.

In May 2013, the fine was charged by Italy's competition authority AGCM and relates to Telecom Italia's abuse of its dominant market position in fixed-line network infrastructure. The company has been blamed by rivals Wind and Fastweb of having obstructed their access to the wholesale network between 2009 and 2011, thus hindering competition in the fixed-line voice and broadband sectors.

Telecom Italia has advanced to pay the fine but has at the same time lodged an appeal before the Council of State that should issue its judgment on the case between the end of 2014 and the start of 2015, according to Radiocor.
