Altice deploys DOCSIS 3.1 with Teleste [TeleGeography CommsUpdate]

(TeleGeography CommsUpdate Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The Finland-based video and broadband equipment supplier Teleste Corporation has been awarded a frame contract by the cable TV group Altice, which has operations in Europe, Israel and the Caribbean. Under the frame agreement, Teleste is providing Altice with access network equipment which enables the delivery of advanced broadband services using the DOCSIS 3.1 standard. The firms say this will be the first mass-scale deployment of a multi-gigabit DOCSIS 3.1 access network in Europe. The contract has been valued at more than EUR20 million (USD26.3 million) over the next five years, and is an extension of previous frame agreements between Teleste and Altice Group. Altice subsidiaries include Numericable (France, Belgium and Luxembourg), HOT Telecommunications (Israel), Cabovisao and Oni Communications (Portugal), and Outremer Telecom (Caribbean).
