Colombia : ETB's FTTH network achieves half a million households in COLOMBIA [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ETB's fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network continues bolstering. The company achieved nearly half a million households last month.

ETB is also planning to introduce IPTV service into Colombia's pay-TV market. Despite the new services show low figures so far, with 5,000 customers paying for telecom services via fibre and only 500 subscribing to IPTV, the Bogota-based telco is confident about the future.

Saúl Kattan, ETB's president, commented We launched FTTH eight months ago and the network already reaches 500,000 homes. Besides, we are getting ready to launch a mobile platform with focus on 4G services, which will be able to compete with the country's big telcos.

Kattan stated that the company's new projects have renewed ETB's financial activity that was showing very low figures 2 years ago. Kattan further added Nowadays the company is worth double up, with shares over $0.3. The market is looking at us as a different company, very active and able to compete.

The company is mainly confident about pay-TV services evolution that is going to step forward concurrently with FTTH expansion. Last April, ETB introduced the service including 150 channels, covering 40 HD signals, which are offered in a triple-play service.
