Czech Republic,France : O2 CZECH REPUBLIC contracted ADB to deliver software management services [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ADB has made an announcement on its receipt of a major contract from O2 Czech Republic, the biggest integrated telecom services provider of the nation, for the management of a software migration process for the Czech Republic s No. 1 IPTV operator, which will facilitate the O2 users to enjoy futuristic services.

O2 has awarded the contract to ADB considering the latter s proven capability, which will help the operator to improve its pay-TV services economically via expansion of O2 s initial investment in ADB-made set-top boxes that it installed in 2006. The company has carried out the software migration process between last September and March this year.

O2 s launch of the new platform - O2 TV has been beneficial for the company as it helped to boost the number of new users by 10% Y-o-Y by the end of 2013.

ADB has delivered dedicated software and systems integration services to O2 to facilitate the company to transfer over 130,000 IPTV subscribers to the nangu.tv platform from Alcatel-Lucent MiViewTV middleware. The automatic installation of the new software into the set-top boxes of its users has facilitated the subscribers to make the most of new attributes comprising time changing, remote recording option along with a new user interface.

O2 s Marketing Director with responsibility for Consumer Services - David Duron revealed, Although we had traditionally thought of ADB as a hardware provider, over recent years we have come to recognise ADB s impressive software, services and systems integration expertise.

The O2 official further said, ADB s team not only had the skills to make this a smooth transition for our subscribers but also delivered creative ideas and value-added services that made the entire process very cost-effective, he added.

The ADB CEO - Peter Balchin stated, By upgrading the software on existing consumer premises equipment rather than replacing hardware, O2 has saved many millions of Euros.

Balchin added, This deployment demonstrates yet again that ADB s future-proof technology provides an incredible return on investment by extending the life of legacy systems.

O2, the Czech market s No. 1 integrated telecom player, first installed the ADB-3800 hybrid IPTV HD set-top boxes in 2006.
