Acumatica Not Impacted by Heartbleed Bug

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Kirkland, Washington (PRWEB) April 14, 2014 Acumatica, the fastest-growing leader in Cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions for small and medium-sized companies, today issued a statement that Acumatica is not impacted by Heartbleed security bug.

"Acumatica is not impacted by the Heartbleed bug," said Stijn Hendrikse Chief Marketing Officer for Acumatica. "Our cloud infrastructure partners were not impacted or have taken steps to update its products to mitigate this vulnerability. We are following the Heartbleed Bug development very closely and will update as needed." The Heartbleed Bug (CVE-2014-0160) exploits a serious vulnerability in the OpenSSL cryptographic software library, enabling hackers to steal sensitive information typically protected by the SSL/TLS encryption used to secure the Internet. SSL/TLS provides communication security and privacy over the Internet for applications such as email, instant messaging, and some virtual private networks (VPNs).

Acumatica uses Microsoft Web Servers (IIS) which are not affected by the Heartbleed bug. Microsoft stated on its Azure blog that "Microsoft Azure Websites, Microsoft Azure Pac Websites and Microsoft Azure Web Roles do not use Open SSL to terminate SSL connections. Windows comes with its own encryption component called Secure Channel (a.k.a. SChannel), which is not susceptible to the Heartbleed vulnerability." Amazon, which confirmed its services affected included EC2 and Elastic Load Balancing (ELB), has since updated all its load balancers to address the OpenSSL vulnerability.
