Tarana Wireless Enters Cisco Small Cell Wireless Backhaul Ecosystem

SANTA CLARA, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Tarana (News - Alert) Wireless®, an industry innovator in universal wireless transport solutions, today announced the addition of its AbsoluteAir™ products to the Cisco® Small Cell Wireless Backhaul Ecosystem. Tarana's AbsoluteAir delivers deterministic performance at full capacity across "True NLoS", nLoS, and LoS operation enabling service providers to deploy backhaul anywhere small cells are located. It combines ubiquitous coverage, capacity and scalability, zero-touch provisioning and operation, and a low total cost of ownership.

The combined Tarana-Cisco (News - Alert) mobile Internet solution offers service providers a wireless backhaul solution for small cells that offers the ability to operate at full capacity even when wireless links are completely obstructed by multiple solid structures such as buildings, overpasses and vehicles. In addition, Tarana supports multiple concurrent links at full capacity in a single channel, delivering metro-scalability and spectral efficiency of 28 bits per second per hertz (600Mbps across 8 links in 20MHz spectrum).

"The Cisco Small Cell Wireless Backhaul Ecosystem is a critical element of our strategy as it helps reduce some of the hrdles facing mobile operators implementing a small cell infrastructure," said Ed Chang, vice president of product management, service provider mobility business group, Cisco. "Collaborating with Tarana strengthens our ability to deliver a proven end-to-end wireless backhaul solution to our service provider customers."

Cisco has built an ecosystem of wireless backhaul vendors whose products have been tested for interoperability with the Cisco ASR 901S Series Aggregation Services Routers. By creating this testing and certification program, Cisco reduces service providers' risk and costs, thus simplifying their small cell rollouts.

"We are pleased to have been selected to join the Cisco Small Cell Wireless Backhaul Ecosystem," said Steve Sifferman, president and CEO of Tarana Wireless. "Our strong relationship with Cisco is additional validation of our technological leadership, and our Cisco collaboration will further enable Tarana to address global product demand."

Tarana will showcase its AbsoluteAir universal wireless transport solution at the upcoming 2014 Mobile World Congress, February 24-27, in Barcelona, Spain (stand 6K21).
