Market Maker Surveillance Report. ANR, MU, ACI, NIHD, OGZPY, FTR, Bearishly Biased Price Friction For Wednesday, November 7th 2012

Nov 08, 2012 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3606 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1288 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4586 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Alpha Natural Resources Inc (NYSE:ANR), Micron Technology Inc (NASDAQ:MU), Arch Coal Inc (NYSE:ACI), NII Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:NIHD), GAZPROM OAO-SPON ADR (OTC:OGZPY), Firesteel Resources Inc (NASDAQ:FTR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below: Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction ANR $-1.170 -12.16% 13,677,230 39.24% 11,536,189 33.09% 2,141,041 Abnormal MU $-0.170 -2.79% 21,138,223 53.37% 18,423,322 46.51% 2,714,901 Abnormal ACI $-1.110 -12.82% 12,143,232 37.44% 10,338,820 31.88% 1,804,412 Abnormal NIHD $-0.480 -6.79% 6,877,194 62.20% 4,156,095 37.59% 2,721,099 Abnormal OGZPY $-0.270 -2.91% 4,041,954 84.20% 585,812 12.20% 3,456,142 Abnormal FTR $-0.040 -0.88% 6,756,461 58.55% 4,764,666 41.29% 1,991,795 Abnormal Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ANR with 2,141,041 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-1.17000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
