MediaTek acquires Coresonic

MediaTek, Inc. has acquired Coresonic AB, a Sweden-based developer of digital signal processor (DSP) technology for the wireless industry.
MediaTek is a Taiwan-based fabless semiconductor company for wireless communications and digital multimedia solutions, while Coresonic is a backed by SEB Venture Capital and Industrifonden.
Pursuant to the transaction, Coresonic will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of MediaTek in Europe.

Deal Rationale
Through this acquisition, MediaTek will use Coresonic's DSP technology to further improve the efficiency and flexibility of its expanding product lines, strengthening its position as a provider of wireless communication and digital multimedia integrated circuit (IC) solutions.
It will also allow MediaTek to significantly enhance its wireless technologies and to sharpen the competitive edge of its product solutions.
It will also provide synergies for both companies, which will enable Coresonic to increase the pace of introducing new wireless products through MediaTek's global network.
