Merkle Hires Jeff Regen as VP, General Manager of Nonprofit Practice

COLUMBIA, Md. --(Business Wire)--

Merkle (www.merkleinc.com), a leading customer relationship marketing (CRM) firm and the nation's largest privately-held agency, announced the appointment of Jeff Regen as vice president and general manager of the company's nonprofit practice. The assignment underscores Merkle's commitment to continued expansion within the nonprofit sector.

Named one of America's Most Influential & Effective Fundraisers by The Nonprofit Times in 2009, Regen is a respected industry veteran. He joins Merkle from M+R Strategic Services, where he served as senior vice president, integrated services. There, his focus was on building a new nonprofit practice in which he developed integrated, multi-channel fundraising and communications services. Prior to M+R, Regen was vice president, online marketing and communications for Defenders of Wildlife, where he led a team that managed a number of websites and built an email list of more than 800,000 supporters, raising over $5 million in annual online contributions.

Previously, Regen spent 12 years in the private sector, with Capital One, McKinsey & Co. and KPMG, where he worked in Russia to build a self-regulating financial services broker-dealer association. He also founded search firm, Envisto.com. He holds a BA in political science with concentrations in public policy and interational relations from Swarthmore College and an MBA in entrepreneurial management with a focus on marketing from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Regen is a frequent speaker at industry events and has been published in a number of trade periodicals on the topic of multi-channel approaches for nonprofits. In his position at Merkle, he will be responsible for positioning Merkle's expertise in consulting, data, analytics and creative services specifically to help the company's nonprofit clients distinguish themselves in an increasingly competitive landscape.

"Merkle is very fortunate to have Jeff join our team with his background in multi-channel marketing for the nonprofit sector, on both the agency and client sides," said Steve LaValle, Merkle's executive vice president of client and advisory services. "Merkle has a deep history serving nonprofits, and this industry remains a key pillar in our corporate success. We were looking for a candidate who could accelerate our growth in this area and support our nonprofit clients' adoption of a donor-centric approach to fundraising - and ultimately, help them achieve the success that our commercial clients have attained. Jeff is very well regarded in our industry for his success helping charitable organizations raise vast amounts of money for their causes. He embodies the marriage between a keen business acumen and a personal passion for doing what's right. With his energy, enthusiasm and dedication, we knew right away that Jeff was an ideal cultural fit within Merkle."

"I am excited about joining the Merkle team, where the combination of deep analytic strengths, combined with robust data assets and a true multi-channel approach, enables nonprofits to achieve the best possible results," said Regen. "I have always been impressed by Merkle's dedication to the success of charitable causes. The company's 'Do What Matters' tagline is more than just a slogan - it's a way of life for Merkle's nonprofit organization."
