'Outremer joins Preventel customer database group'Feb 16, 2009 (DMEUROPE via COMTEX) -- French overseas region operator Outremer Telecom has joined Preventel, an organisation that manages a database of customers who have failed to pay their bills to member operators. Outremer is the first operator in the French West Indies-French Guiana zone to adhere to the group and joins existing members Orange Reunion and SFR in Reunion. The database allows members to verify whether new customers still owe money to other operators and to take measures to prevent more unpaid bills. In accordance with French law, customers listed on the Preventel database are informed beforehand and have the right to see information held about them. They are removed from the list when they pay their debt. As of 15 February, Preventel's members were Auchan Telecom, Bouygues Telecom, Carrefour Interactive, Coriolis Telecom, Debitel France, Neuf Cegetel, NRJ Mobile, Omer Telecom, Orange France, Orange Reuinon, Outremer Telecom, SFR, SRR and Tele2 Mobile.
