(BNamericas.com Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Brazilian police are investigating suspected collusion of local tech distributor Mude in a tax fraud scandal involving networking solutions provider Cisco (Nasdaq: CSCO), tech site Baguete reported.



Mude is suspected of importing equipment for Cisco and having evaded paying 1.5bn reais (US$829mn) in taxes to the government.

Brazilian police reportedly believe they have uncovered some US$50mn outside Brazil that pertains to that 1.5bn reais in unpaid taxes.

US consultancy Procesix has signed an alliance with the technical university Federico Santa Mara in Chile to carry out training on software engineering, governance and information security, website Mondo en Lnea reported.

Procesix already has training partnerships with Chile's Concepcin university and EAFIT university of Medelln, Colombia.

Brazilian software and consulting services firm DTS has appointed Paulo Baptista country manager in Mexico, DTS said in a statement.

Baptista will be responsible for expansion initiatives for meeting aggressive targets in 2008.

The company's plans for Mexico also include building a strong sales team, increasing its portfolio of products and brand positioning.

Chilean forestry company Masisa has selected Spanish IT systems integrator Indra to implement a SAP (NYSE: SAP) CRM platform, according to a company statement.

The tool will give Masisa an overview of a client's history, complaints registry, credit and payments. The information will be used to create new marketing strategies and provide customized services.

US computer firm Dell (Nasdaq: DELL) has donated computers to the Panamanian government for use in rural schools, internet centers and NGOs, local paper Capital Financiero reported.

The PCs are high capacity and come with a monitor, CPU and mouse.
